Ruth and Ira's Wedding Website

Ruth and Ira
Q: What should we wear?
A: The dress code for all events is casual or dressy casual, as you prefer. Either way, please bring multiple layers! An average summer day in the Bay Area can switch from 75 and sunny to 55 and foggy in just a few hours. High-heel lovers, be aware that heels will sink into the ground! We recommend flats, wedges, or a willingness to take off your shoes! Feel free to bring a change of clothes for after-ceremony games.

Q: What's the best way to get from the airport to the hotel? A: Transportation from San Francisco International Airport to the Parc 55 hotel is least costly using BART, the Bay Area subway system. The Parc 55 is one block away from the Powell Street station; a ticket from SFO to Powell Street is $8.10. A taxi from the airport is another option; it will cost approximately $40-50.

Q: Do we need to rent a car?
A: You shouldn't need to rent a car for any of the official wedding events: the Saturday night dinner, the Sunday wedding and reception, or the Monday brunch. If you come earlier, you may want to rent a car for a day to join us on a hike or for wine-tasting. Or let us know and we will try to arrange a carpool!

Q: So then how do we get to the events on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday?
A: BART and taxi are both good options for getting from the hotel to the welcome dinner on Saturday night. The Women's Building is about four blocks (~8 minute walk) from the 16th St. Mission BART station. For the wedding on Sunday, two shuttles will leave from the Parc 55 before the wedding (11:30am and 11:45am) and will return to it afterwards. If you would like to take the shuttle and are not staying in the hotel, please e-mail Ira. The brunch on Monday will take place at the Parc 55 Hotel.

Q: We will be driving to the events on Saturday and Sunday. What are the directions, and will there be parking available?
A: The welcome dinner on Saturday night is at the Women's Building (3543 18th St.), which is in the heart of San Francisco's Mission District. It is possible but difficult to find street parking there on a Saturday night. There are some public parking lots, one on 18th and Valencia, one on 21st between Valencia and Mission. We recommend BART or a taxi, if possible! The wedding site is connected to a parking lot, though we ask that those with cars arrange carpools or get in touch with us. We'll help you find a ride or riders!

There is unfortunately no exact street address for Laurel Picnic site, but we have created a detailed google map that you can use to get you to the right place.

The closest intersection is Grizzly Peak Boulevard and S Park Dr, in Berkeley, CA. From there, you take S Park Dr into the park, and you'll see Laurel Picnic site 0.6 miles on your left, along S Park Dr. If you get to Big Springs Trail, you've gone too far.

Q: Are the events accessible for those with handicaps?
A: They should be, though please get in touch with us if you have a special concern. There is a short (2-3 minute) walk from the parking lot to the picnic site; if you are concerned that this may be difficult for you, please let us know and we will work something out!

Q: What's your proposal story?
A: Ruth proposed to Ira with a treasure hunt across San Francisco, including stops at our favorite food places (Dynamo Donuts, Delfina Pizzeria, Beijing Restaurant, Bi-Rite Ice Cream) and our favorite entertainment (swing dancing in Golden Gate Park, pinball at Shotwell's.) It culminated with the picture above.

Q: What's the schedule of the weekend?
A: All the known activities are listed on our events page. If you have other questions, feel free to contact us.

Q: How can I get the answer to a question not listed here?
A: Just contact us.
